Yobs hurled lit fireworks at cops on foot patrol as one officer can be heard saying “woah” when one exploded in his face.

The shocking footage was released as cops said firefighters in Tinsley, South Yorks. were also targeted by thugs.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue had eggs and ignited fireworks thrown at their fire engine, preventing them from tackling a blaze – a wheelie bin deliberately set on fire.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about those responsible to come forward.

Superintendent Delphine Waring said: “Behaviour like this can cause serious injuries and harm and will not be tolerated.

“Those individuals that engaged in this behaviour last night are the minority and do not represent the wider community.

“For the majority of people Bonfire night was an enjoyable evening, and I would like to thank those who took the time to stop and talk to our officers.”

NIGHT OF CHAOS

Meanwhile shocking footage shows cops cowering for safety as rockets explode around a patrol car in Harehills, Leeds.

Four cops were injured after being blasted at point-blank range as they tried to break up a fight at just before 8.30pm.

Yesterday morning, West Yorkshire Police confirmed 15 local males, aged 11 to 23, had been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Chief Superintendent Steve Cotter, Leeds District Commander, said: “They are very naïve if they think their actions won’t now have consequences and we will be sending a very clear message to them over the coming days and weeks as our investigation progresses.

“Police officers were deliberately targeted and injured during these incidents and that is not something we can ever accept.”

A woman in Derbyshire was left “traumatised” after she was left needing several stitches to her face after she said thugs launched fireworks at a crown in the park.

‘ROCKET LAUNCHERS’

Vanessa Barford, 24, went to Rykneld Park, near Normanton, with three pals to light some fireworks when she noticed people on mopeds had brought “big rocket launchers”.

She said “they just starting pointing at us” before she was hit in the face and her right eye was left bruised and bleeding.

Derbyshire Police said they are investigating the incident.

Violence also erupted in St Helens, Merseyside after a 17-year-old lad was knifed in front of families.

He was left in a pool of blood after being stabbed in the back with a “huge” knife at a Guy Fawkes party.

A mum told the Liverpool Echo how she saw the stricken teen bleeding on the street after being knifed several times in the back.

She said: “It was definitely a kitchen knife, but it was there to cause harm, it was huge.

“Then we saw a young lad on the floor next to a burger van and there was loads of people around him trying to help him.”

Merseyside police confirmed one person was arrested on suspicion of assault.

And in Harpurhey, Manchester, shoppers ‘ran for their lives’ when gangs ran riot as fired fireworks at each other and firefighters.

Horrified eyewitnesses told how the car park of an Asda was left “like a warzone” after the yobs descended on it at 8.15pm.

One told the Manchester Evening News: “I felt like I was in a warzone.

“Everyone was fleeing for their lives whilst trying to shop.

“A group of 20 were shooting fireworks at each other, including rockets.”

Firefighters were also attacked in Manchester.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said “attacks like these are completely unacceptable”.
